Baffled Wide-mouth bottle with three vertical baffles in the inner surface of the GLS 80^® bottles which disrupt a swirling motion. The baffles improve the top-to-bottom circulation and produce a greater radial mixing. The baffles also offer other advantages such as suppressing the formation of a central vortex, and reducing dead-zones where mixing does not occur.

Alternative

GS vessels for homogenisers POLYTRON^® are available in borosilicate glass or stainless steel. GS jars have a cloverleaf-like shape creating high turbulences optimizing the mixing and the dispersing efficiency. This minimizes the machining time and reducing the application of energy.
The GS-stainless steel containers with lid are equipped with baffles. The crossbars radically disturb the flow and generate additional opposing flows, optimizing the mixing in the dispensing vessel. The sterilisable screw caps with PTFE or a silicone seal are temperature-resistant up to 180 °C. The stainless steel 18/10 is rustproof, durable, has good insulating properties, completely hygienic, not toxic and not magnetic.

The DURAN^® double-walled wide-mouth bottles GLS 80^® incorporate an integral jacket that isolates the contents from the external environment. Heated or cooled liquids can be circulated through the jacket to control the temperature within the screw topped DURAN^® bottle.

Application:
The above-mentioned properties make the DURAN^® stirred reactor ideal for the widest possible range of mixing processes in laboratories, e.g. mixing liquids or dissolving solids. The connections available allow introduction of media into the bottle or removal during mixing.
The whole assembly is autoclavable, so that it can be used in biological applications, for example simple fermentation processes. With the aid of components from the DURAN^® connection system extra media bottles can be attached, or a sterile pressure release fitted.

The GLS 80^® stirred reactor is suitable for a wide range of laboratory mixing processes. The screwthread connections (2 x GL14, 2 x GL18) provided allow addition or removal of media from the bottle during the mixing process. The whole assembly can be autoclaved and is therefore suitable for use in fermentation and culture. By using components from the GLS 80 connection system, an additional media bottle (Tubing o.d.: 1.6 to 12.0mm) can be connected or a sterile pressure equalizer attached. Drive for the stirrer is provided by a standard, commercial, magnetic stirrer. The variable length stirrer shaft can be used in DURAN^® GLS 80^® laboratory glass bottles (1000 and 2000ml) and provides notably improved mixing in comparison with standard magnetic stirrer bars. The paddle is exchangeable and can be used up to 500 rpm. Typical applications: mixing of liquids, dissolving of solids, simple fermentation.
Items supplied: GLS 80^® stirred reactor with magnetic anchor stirrer, 1000 or 2000ml DURAN^® GLS 80 bottle as indicated, GL14 screw cap (PP, blue), 2 x GL14 and 2 x GL18 screw cap (PBT red).
