Le trappole fredde con vaso di Dewar sono costruite in vetro borosilicato 3.3 a norme DIN/ISO 3585 a tenuta LN2 per applicazioni di vuoto. I vasi sono isolati e placcati argento. Sono incassati in alluminio, per protezione, ed hanno un collare ad anello in plastica, all"interno del quale è inserita la trappola fredda. In questo modo non è necessario nessun supporto supplementare. I vasi Dewar hanno una capacità teorica di refrigerante di 1.0L o 2.0L. Le trappole fredde hanno una capacità teorica di condensato di 150ml o 250ml....

Le trappole fredde vengono utilizzate insieme alle pompe da vuoto per raccogliere il condensato prodotto dall"umidità o dai solventi e possono essere usate per molte funzioni. L"applicazione più comune è raccogliere la condensa prodotta da umidità o solventi da dischi rotanti, pompe da vuoto o sistemi per alto vuoto che usano pompe a diffusione d"olio o turbo-molecolari. In questo caso si utilizza normalmente un refrigerante comune come azoto liquido (LN2) o ghiaccio secco (CO2) con acetone. Semplici trappole fredde, note anche come condensatori a dito freddo, sono usate in combinazione con le pompe da vuoto e la condensa viene spinta fuori dall"umidità o dai solventi utilizzati nelle applicazioni chimiche....
